Energy Brain-Boosting Detox Smoothie

I am infatuated with my Monday morning energy brain- boosting detox smoothie.

Recently I was introduced to this cilantro lime smoothie that I know you will love. It’s filled with just the right amount of fiber to push along the junk sitting in your digestive tract. This smoothie is so abundant with vitamins, and minerals for optimal health you will be feel energized at the first sip!

The Stars of this energy brain boosting detox smoothie are:

Organic Cilantro-

  • A powerful source of minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, and magnesium.
  • Rich in vitamins, including beta carotene, niacin, folic acid, riboflavin, vitamin-A, and vitamin-C. Vitamin C is a powerful antoxident.
  • Some studies indicate Vitamin A rich foods may protect the lungs and mouth from cancers. Vitamin K must be included as Cilantro provides more than 250% of the daily suggested intake.
  • Vitamin K supports bone mass and plays a role in limiting neuronal damage in Alzheimer’s patients.

Organic Leafy Greens –

  • Filled with nutrients including lutein, vitamin K, nitrate, folate, alpha-tocopherol, beta-carotene.
  • These nutrients are associated with cognitive health!

Lime –

  • A powerhouse of Vitamin C, lime protects against heart disease. Limes are full of antioxidants meaning it fights the free radicals in our body and supports lowering the risk of cancer.
  • There have been studies showing that lime essential oil lowers body weight and consumption of food in mice. I add lime oil to my sparkling water for a fun splash of flavor instead of high sugar soda
  • Limes also help prevent kidney stone production as well as boost your immune system.

Frozen Banana –

  • Bananas not only taste good, but are also easy to consume and make my favorite go food they are high in nutrients making them the perfect food to add value and a creamy texture to this smoothie.
  • Bananas are high in B6 which helps produce red blood cells, metabolize carbohydrates and turn them into energy, break down amino acids, support removing toxic chemicals from your liver and kidney as well as maintain the nervous system.
  • If all of that is not enough for you to love go bananas then know they are also high in vitamin c, potassium, and manganese.

Coconut Oil –

  • I could go on and on about the benefits of coconut oil and I did in this post. The short version is coconut oil may kill harmful organisms in the body, reduce hunger, raise the good cholesterol HDL, it’s also wonderful for skin, hair and oral care.

Ginger Root –

  • Typically we hear of ginger used for issues with the stomach or digestive system issues.
  • We also know through studies that Ginger has been effective as an anti-inflammatory. One study concluded that ginger extract has the potential to be as effective as Nonnonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • We use it in our smoothie for the inflammatory properties as well as its stomach-soothing benefits.

Additional items you may need –

  • I can’t even think about making any energy brain boosting detox smoothie without my high powered blender. We use this bad boy every day. I have had a few friends who love this blender as well and prefer the price point.
  • Purified water is so important. We have simplified and use our Berkey water system for purified water instead of buying more plastic jugs of water at the grocery store.

Cilantro Lime Energizing Brain Boosting Detox Smoothie

My Monday morning detox smoothie, filled with nutrients, detoxifying greens and energy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic cilantro washed
  • 3 cubes Ice – optional
  • 1 cup Purified water or coconut water
  • 1 small Frozen banana
  • 1 1/2 cup Spinach, kale or blend of greens
  • 1 Lime peeled
  • 1 tbsp Organic coconut oil
  • 1 thumb Organic ginger root
  • 2 Pitted dates or 1/2 tsp raw local honey if you need sweetener

Instructions

  1. Add greens, cilantro and water and blend until smooth.

  2. Add remainder of ingredients, blending until smooth.

  3. Enjoy
